Do they really taste any worse than a duck? Personally, I can't tell the difference between ducks to ducks or to geese.....

Try cooking your duck a little less. through the breast in a skillet, and cook to no more than medium and enjoy. Something about going more towards well done brings out a stronger flavor in the duck.

In the years I've hunted, I haven't even seen that many mergansers!!!! Common and Hooded Combined. I'm impressed?

It was fun and I appreciate it, I just knew there were a bunch of duck snobs that would hate on a merganser shoot as much as they would a strap o bootlips or a cootshoot. I just shake them haters off and make me a good gumbo - ooohhh shay - aaaaaieee!

Heard That!

I sat sipping my coffee and smoking my cigerate, I hadn't seen much flying this cold wet morning. This was one of those mornings that duck hunters dream of in deep slumber. All of a sudden a tight group of Red Breasted Sawbills buzzed low to the dekes. Blazing barrels are heard as far as was POC & Houston from this one small blind. 13 sawbills flew in and not a one sawbill flew out.
