Exactly Half as Good Today

5 guys, half limits. Shot really well, only let one duck get away. That North wind blew our birds somewhere else. Still had a good flurry early, and my gal came with today to film us. So it was still a good hunt overall. Buddy brought his six year old, and he's hell on them ducks with a bb gun!

Thibby with the take

She might not pick 'em but at least she'll hold 'em...

Had a good time and brought Agduckhumper with us as well. So a good time was had by all, even if we only did half as well as yesterday.

Teal were gone but there was a bunch of pintail out there today. Landed several mottleds in the decoys too.

Drake224 killed a big ole stumptail on the way out this morning.

On the cable gate road by roost pond? We saw a mangled one there. Looked like someone shot it about 6 times...

Looks like a good time for all! My girl is the say way. She'll come along but won't shoot. Im still tring to get her to hunters safety as a first step! It was nice back in Kansas though she would do all of the walking but none of the shooting on pheasant hunts

We may not have had many birds but we were efficient. We bagged the first 5 birds we saw. Drundel and Duckquest didn't hold up there end of the deal on the final three only taking one? Would not have recovered that one if not for the dog. Thought it was a dead kill only to find out it could still walk. Went about 15-20 yards through the salt marsh grass while Drake was duckie and after it. He finally found and brought to hand. Young dog is doing good.

Got a good scare late when 4 birds came right into the dekes locked up. Sailed right in and something didn't appear right on the front bird. I asked TexasWaterfowler to ID before the shot and he did good!!! He called out pintail as they were a couple of feet from the water, saving 4 Pin's and our asses? Damn, that was close?

Mottled in the dekes was cool, at least 3 decoyed. Fell in from high. Would have had pictures but TX lost the camera?

Good early season for our group. Tex please post up our final #'s?

We hit the pond and went straight across to the backside. Didn't find the blind so we setup in a spot that looked good. Birds responded well so it was all good.

We'll paint that blind with some orange paint next time out!

I claim self defense on the ones that got away... I knew I was fine but when Drundel shot over me at his that ported chock made it sound closer than he was. I only got one shot off and had pick out the same bird he shot. We should have shot those birds earlier anyway...

It was still a decent hunt. Nice watching the big ducks decoy.

North wind must have blown your birds to Garwood. We got covered up early. But could not hit crap!!! I have not cleaned my gun since dove season so naturally when the big groups came in it was not feeding the second shell all the way. I was having to slap the side to make it finish loadin

Please! I'm not the one who wears dish washing gloves. Anyways I got us to the island with no GPS but we hit to the right of the blind and looked all the way around to the right.

Still all the birds that worked us came in.

Greg, any luck on the camera?

Duckquest:

Sorry about the shots, I'm gonna get a new choke before big duck season. I've been told three times about the porting on that choke just during teal season.

Sorry ya'll lost your birds. Not like ya'll didn't take advantage while they were there, though.

I had a full crew today. We had 24 teal in less than 30 min. It was probably my best shoot this season. Saw a lot of big ducks and heard some mini canadas on the pond when we first got there. We decoyed one group of about 20-30 pintails. They worked real nice. We coulda put the smackdown on 'em and it woulda been ugly. Excellent day overall.
